A very luxurious and peaceful hotel with an abundance of fine construction materials, such as Carrara marble and natural granite, used in the exteriors and rooms. Spacious indoor and outdoor dining areas with gardens and live music are available. The hotel has ample, convenient parking at no extra cost. It offers all kinds of services and facilities, such as tennis courts, several fully equipped gyms, a jazz bar, pool bars, a poolside bar, and more. The pool is enormous, very clean, and well-maintained. There are also gardens with all kind of trees and plants, waterfalls and a majestic fountain. The food is very good, and the service is excellent. It is truly a 5-star hotel, with an unbeatable balance between what you pay and what you get; there is nothing like it on the entire island.

Rooms are cozy, food here is amazing. Scenery here is great and their swimming pools are simply on top. Activities for both residents and children are great and fun to attend, staff is really nice to you. The only drawback is the fact that if you were not to take the all inclusive option , drinks to dinners are paid for, but nevertheless best hotel in this part of coast.

I absolutely do not recommend this hotel! It is not able to ensure the safety of guests and the protection of their property! Right during breakfast, all the cash was stolen from our wallets! From public sources of the local police it follows that this is not the first incident in the Costa Calma area, nor in the Rio Calma hotel. The staff deliberately denies that anything similar has happened here. They only refer to their card reading system that no one entered the room. However, the reality is different, the money from both wallets disappeared in the hotel room!!!

Unfortunately, my stay at Hotel R2 Río Calma fell far below expectations. Check-in was disorganized and the service inconsistent from the start. My room’s air conditioning didn’t work, and despite reporting it multiple times, I was later told the hotel doesn’t actually have air conditioning — something that should be communicated upfront, especially in a warm climate. I was advised to “open the balcony door” instead, which didn’t feel safe or practical. The issues continued from there — luggage storage wasn’t secure, guests had to pay extra to use in-room safes (a first in all my travels), and I even noticed a cat roaming the lobby and hallways, which is a major concern for anyone with allergies. To make matters worse, I spotted a roach in the breakfast restaurant the next morning. Communication within the staff was inconsistent, dinner reservations were mixed up, and service was lackluster — especially disappointing given this was a hosted stay for travel professionals. While the location and design of the hotel have potential, the lack of hospitality, cleanliness, and comfort made it a property I, unfortunately, cannot recommend at this time.

Food was lovely, good variety of choice. The staff were very helpful, and were always friendly. Stunning views from the hotel and the grounds of the hotel were beautiful, lovely architecture. However there were a few downsides to the hotel. We found little bugs on our bed side table, which we noticed started to crawl into our bed. We also found them on our Chest of drawers. Other than that the rooms were decent and the view from the balcony was nice. The pools were lovely, although a bit dirty with leaves and sand at the bottom. Also unless you want to get up at 7am to reserve a sun bed all of them will be taken. A bit annoying that we had to pay for water, and also drinks get charged to your room which means you pay the bill at the end of your stay. There was also construction going on which was loud, the walls were quite thin so we could hear people scrapping their chairs above us and also in the room next to us. The location of the hotel was very rural, closest town is a 40 minute walk or a 8 minute taxi drive. Taxis were about €8 and you can order them at the hotel reception. Closest beach is a pebble beach which is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. However, if you want a sand beach there’s one in Costa Calma which is a 8 minute taxi drive. There’s also a few cats who live on site, they’re very friendly. The evening entertainment in the hotel was good, there was an amazing live singer and they had a disco night which was great fun. My friend had a massage at the spa which she said was really relaxing. You have to pay to use the pool in the spa so we didn’t bother with that. Overall we had a nice stay but definitely a few issues.
