Wow! This was the most beautiful hotel we have ever stayed in! Beautiful garden and hotel complex, a picture-perfect beach, and the service is truly outstanding. Everyone is incredibly nice and friendly. This is exactly how you want to travel. Plus, excellent food and delicious drinks. It couldn't have been better. The shuttle service brings you everywhere in no time, therefore the distances are no problem at all. What an experience - We'll be back for sure!

Our stay at this property was wonderful. This was our third time staying at a Melia property and this brand never disappoints. The service was exceptional. I will definitely stay here again the next time I visit Zanzibar. My husband and I were celebrating our 1 year anniversary and the staff made it unforgettable. I will never forget the cake and surprise dance by the staff that made us smile all night. Thank you for that special memory. Hakuna Matata ❤️

I had an amazing stay at the hotel! I would like to especially mention Andrea at the reception – she always welcomed me with a big smile, endless patience, and helped me with everything I needed, big or small. Thanks to her, I immediately felt at home. Also, Thawil the bartender was fantastic – professional, always full of good energy, and gave such personal service. He made every evening at the bar fun and unforgettable. Overall, the service at the hotel was above and beyond, the atmosphere was wonderful, and the staff truly made me feel cared for. Highly recommended, and I can’t wait to come back!

we had a lovely stay at the melia zanzibar and truly enjoyed our time there. our room was modern, spacious, and came with a beautiful balcony overlooking the sea. the bathroom was large and very well designed, and the mosquito protection around the bed worked perfectly. the minibar was refilled daily free of charge, which was a great touch. all staff members — especially the local employees — were exceptionally friendly and warm. the room was always cleaned with great care. the food was consistently high-quality, varied, and delicious, with plenty of vegetarian options across all restaurants and beach spots. the entire resort is well-maintained and offers stunning sea views. our airport transfer was perfectly organized and very professional, and there is visible security staff on site. the beach itself is nice, but to be fair, there are more beautiful beaches on zanzibar — especially those with clearer, turquoise water. depending on tides or algae, the water here isn’t always the picture-perfect blue. the short walk or golf cart ride to gabi beach was totally fine for us. at gabi beach, many locals offer tours or other activities — they can be quite persistent and approach you directly when you leave your sunbed. we handled it politely, and while some guests booked activities, others seemed uncomfortable. the light switch near the bathroom didn’t work, and the overall control system for lighting and air conditioning could be more practical. there were also some cracks in the bathroom walls. due to a flight change, we arrived a day early and had two separate bookings. as gold member, it would have been a nice gesture to receive the same room category and all-inclusive package from day one, especially since it was already booked for the following days. funny enough, the front desk also didn’t seem aware that we were staying longer. some negatives: many of the plastic cups used at the pool and gabi beach were old, yellowed, and looked quite unappealing. paint was peeling under the main building’s roof. the large samsung tv in the room offered no way to connect an iphone via airplay or chromecast, and the app selection was limited — netflix never worked. i also noticed that no locals seemed to hold higher management positions (just my observation; might be wrong). during a over 3-day internet outage reportedly caused by the tanzanian government, there was no communication from hotel management, which would have been appreciated. although the cleaning team did an excellent job, they often left the doors wide open while working, which led to lots of mosquitoes entering the room. one night we had to get rid of over 30 mosquitoes. one important issue: while the minibar water bottles are provided in glass and refilled daily, a smaller similar bottle was also placed in the bathroom. i drank from it the first night, assuming it was the same, and got very sick for over 24 hours. it seems that bottle was not meant for drinking. this should definitely be communicated clearly to guests. overall, we had a great vacation and many positive experiences at this hotel. however, due to several smaller issues, i wouldn’t personally rate it as a five-star hotel by european standards. that said, many travelers probably won’t mind these details. it’s still a beautiful place to spend a wonderful holiday. definitely worth visiting, and many thanks to the amazing hotel staff for their warmth and hospitality. thank you 🙏🏼
