Location: it's about 9-10min from subway. It includes breakfast which is a plus and the reason we chose it. Rooms are small but very clean. You can hear people from others rooms. The reason I gave 1 star: my iPhone charger was stolen the 1st day. We stayed 5 nights. I plugged my charger behind the night table next to the window. It was barely visible. My friends charger was in the entrance plugged in and my watch charger was in the table plugged in. I notified front desk about it and they took my information and said they were going to investigate. They didn't call me or anything so I asked them in the morning and in the evening the following day. Their response: I'm sorry, it wasn't found. There is no a safe box and honestly, who steals a charger? But I felt very insecure to leave all my stuff there. I couldn't enjoy my time 100% because of the thought of : what if they steal something else? What if they check inside my bag and take something.. I was very unease. I preferred to carry my valuables instead of leaving them in the hotel. It couldn't be a mistake because as I said the charger was barely visible so they had to unplug it and take it. I received an email from the hotel saying that they will investigate but again, it is a charger so no one gives it importance. But it is the fact that someone took something that didn't belong to them. That's the sad part.

I checked into this hotel late at night with my family, and unfortunately, the experience was far from what we expected. The area around the hotel felt unsafe — there were several people loitering nearby who appeared to be sex workers, which made me very uncomfortable bringing my kids into that environment. Once inside, things didn’t improve. The room had a strong odor, and the beds were much smaller than advertised. I had booked two queen beds, but they looked more like twin beds — definitely not suitable for four people. The bathroom was spacious, but the shower was oddly tiny. The worst part was discovering bugs on the bed, which scared my children. I later learned they were invasive species that harm trees, but that didn’t help us sleep any better. My kids were anxious all night, and none of us got proper rest. Breakfast was okay, and cleanliness was passable, but overall, the three-night stay was extremely disappointing. I had prepaid nearly $1,000, so I didn’t feel there was much point in raising concerns at the front desk. If I’d had the option, I would not have stayed here.

The towels smelled like yesterday’s lunch. Not exactly fresh. Forget any scenic views the surrounding skyscrapers make your window basically a wall of concrete. Elevators move at a glacial pace. Waiting for one feels like a New York minute… that lasts forever. Breakfast area during peak hours? Let’s just say hygiene is more of a suggestion than a rule. Breakfast itself is incredibly boring. Vegetables—ever heard of them? Plastic cutlery everywhere. Fun fact: 100 guests using a knife, fork, and spoon each day equals roughly 1,207 lbs of plastic per year—that’s the weight of nearly 4,830 cheeseburgers. Yikes.

I’ve had a great stay overall at the Fairfield. As others have mentioned, the rooms are on the smaller side, but that’s to be expected in NYC. The rooms are clean, and housekeeping has been great throughout my stay. While the view is a wall of the adjacent building, it hasn’t really mattered since I’ve been out most of the day. The location is excellent—close to FiDi and the pier, which has made getting around super convenient.

I would give the hotel a 5 star review, the location is great if you plan to visit statues of Liberty, staff was very friendly. However, room is small and the bathroom sink barely has counter space, only a small glass rack on top the toilet. During breakfast time it was hard to find table and seats, so you better go early. The worst experience was there were bedbugs on both beds, we are a family of 4 and we all got bitten, it was my daughter who showed lots of bite marks on her face and arms and my husband two days later then 4 days later it was all over my arms. They sent two staffs to our room to inspect the bed and saw signs of bedbugs. We talked to the management at the lobby and they said they will refund points to our account and we still haven't seen any after two weeks.
